Try Something New Poster

The Try Something New Poster acts as an ad to incentivize people to crochet. With the crochet hook as a cigarette, and title, “GET HOOKED,” the poster uses a play on words between the hook and getting hooked on smoking. This play on words also connects to the idea of getting hooked on crocheting as a hobby.
Band/Gig Posters
The band/gig posters were weekly posters advertising a concert for different bands. The parameters were different for each poster.

The National, Parameters: 1 color
In order to adhere to the parameters while having contrast within the poster, a halftone texture was utilized. For the imagery, eyes were added to create a visceral reaction and get the viewer to look at the poster. In addition, the eyes represent the coming and going of relationships. The eye looking at the viewer represents close and intimate relationships. However the eye looking away represents a relationship that has become distant over time.

Jon Batiste, Parameters: two colors, full bleed
With this poster, the act of creating music was emphasized. The poster depicts hands and a piano overlapping. By overlapping the blue hands and orange piano keys, another color is created. The creation of the color represents the creation of music when one plays the piano.

The Record Company, Parameters: 4 colors, full bleed
The poster for The Record Company is based around the bands genre; rock. The blurred motion heart represents the energetic feeling when listening to rock music. To add onto this, lighting bolts surrounding the heart also represent the electric feeling when listening to rock music.

Caspar Babypants, Parameters: 4 colors, no bleed
With Caspar Babypants creating music for children, imagery evoking a storybook was used. The frogs laying in a field of grass and flowers help create a sense of relaxation and happiness, which also relates to the music Caspar Babypants creates. Lastly, felt was used to add texture to the imagery.
